For the third time this season, a Dallas Cowboys kick returner -- this time Kevin Ogletree -- is headed to injured reserve, *The Dallas Morning News* reported Tuesday.
Ogletree will have surgery on his right big toe after injuring it on a kick return during Sunday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The pain got progressively worse this week, and after an MRI exam, he was fitted with a walking boot and referred to a specialist.
The second-year player gained a more prominent role in the Cowboys' offense after Dez Bryant was injured. Bryant and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah preceded Ogletree on the IR. The Cowboys now likely will turn to rookie Bryan McCann to return all kicks.
The team plans to promote receiver Manny Johnson, a second-year pro, from the practice squad.
