Only two QBs off board in Network experts' first-round mock

With two first-round picks, would the New England Patriots really consider drafting Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett to be groomed as Tom Brady's heir apparent? Whether or not Bill Belichick considers such a move, it was something Charles Davis thought about when he was charged with making the 28th pick for New England in the NFL Network's third annual roundtable mock draft. 

Not only did he decide to pass on Mallett (in favor of UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers), but none of the top quarterback prospects after Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert heard their names called in this mock.

As was the case in the previous two years, the 2011 version was an interesting endeavor in looking at how the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft ultimately could play out. With analyst Mike Mayock, who will unveil his full first-round mock draft on NFL Network on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET), playing the role of commissioner, seven analysts -- Davis, Michael Irvin, Brian Billick, Michael Lombardi, Marshall Faulk, Steve Mariucci and Bucky Brooks -- and NFL Network host Rich Eisen made the picks.
