Over 200 draftees from '12 class have signed contracts

The Oakland Raidersannouncing the signing of half their 2012 NFL Draft class and the St. Louis Rams getting first-round pick Michael Brockersunder contract pushed the total number of 2012 NFL Draft picks with a signed contract over the 200 mark on Thursday.

With the number currently at 201 players, 79.4 percent of the 253 players selected in late April have signed contracts as of June 8. To put that into context, from 2006 through 2010, the duration of the previous collective bargaining agreement, only 113 of the 1,273 players (8.9 percent) selected in the entry draft had a signed contract by June 8.

Furthermore, Brockers was the 14th first-round pick from this year's class to sign a contract. Of the first-round picks from 2006-10, just five had signed by June 8.

Perhaps the biggest shift has come with the number of early signings of players selected in the second round. As of Friday morning, 27 of the 31 players picked (the New Orleans Saints forfeited their selection) in the second round have signed contracts.

From 2006 through 2010, no second-round pick was signed this early, and only one second-round pick (LeSean McCoy) had signed before the month of July. And McCoy signed his deal on June 30.

Eight teams have signed their entire 2012 draft class: Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks.

Nine teams have just one pick to sign and only two teams -- the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans -- have yet to sign a single draft choice.
