Owen Daniels out for Ravens after knee procedure

The Baltimore Ravens have scored on a league-best 47.4 percent of their offensive possessions this season.

If that success is going to continue at Cincinnati on Sunday, Joe Flacco will have to keep the offense clicking on all cylinders without his starting tight end.

Coach John Harbaugh revealed Friday that Owen Daniels will miss this week's game against the Bengals after undergoing a "cleanup" procedure on his knee.

Although Daniels has looked a step slow after the catch going back to the preseason, the news comes as a bit of a surprise. Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak indicated Thursday that Daniels' knee was fine.

With Daniels out of the lineup, third-round rookie Crockett Gillmore will draw the start.

"He's ready to go," Harbaugh said.

Daniels has offered reliable hands and an intimate knowledge of Kubiak's offense. The Ravens can compensate for his loss by emphasizing the superior run-after-catch abilities of Gillmore and H-back Kyle Juszczyk.
