Packers' Grant helped off field vs. Browns after hit to head

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers running back Ryan Grant took a hit to the head and needed help from trainers after being tackled during the first quarter of a 27-24 preseason-opening loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Grant was having a bad night before the injury on his third carry Saturday. He fumbled on his first touch, leading to a Browns touchdown.

After a gain of 6 yards on his second carry, Grant was hit hard on his third attempt by Cleveland linebacker Chris Gocong and defensive end Robaire Smith.

Several trainers came to Grant's aid after he stumbled badly while getting up, then helped him off the field.

"I can tell you right now, if it was the regular season, I definitely would've tried to get back in the game," Grant said. "I just got my bell rung a little bit, but I'm all right now."

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Grant would be re-evaluated Sunday and Monday, but that the team's head trainer said the running back cleared his tests on the sideline.
