Packers to try out Michael Zweifel, NCAA's receptions leader

The NCAA's all-time receptions leader wasn't drafted or offered an undrafted free-agent contract, but the record-holding receiver from Dubuque, Michael Zweifel, has been offered a tryout with the Green Bay Packers.

"I'm just excited to get a chance to play and show what I can do," Zweifel told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Sunday. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to be there. I know the speed of the game will be faster. But I'm just really excited."

Zweifel will be one of many who will be invited to the Packers' rookie camp to compete for a roster spot.

Zweifel spent two years at Wisconsin-River Falls, but he transferred to Dubuque after his father was named the school's head coach.

At the Iowa State pro day, the wideout had a 4.56-second 40-yard dash, a 35-inch vertical jump and a 6.52-second three-cone drill.

Zweifel caught 463 passes during his Division III collegiate career and had 140 receptions for 25 touchdowns and 1,915 yards last season.
