Cam Newton is coming off arguably the greatest rookie season for a quarterback in NFL history. So what do you do for an encore?
Jeremiah: Superman returns
Cam Newton took the NFL by storm in 2011. The scary thing for opponents: He's rapidly improving. Daniel Jeremiah reports. **More ...**
Newton was asked Thursday what aspects of his game he's looking to improve in his second season with the Carolina Panthers.
"There's not one particular thing I feel I'm struggling with the most, but there are a lot of holes in my game I feel like, especially going back and looking at the film from last year," Newton said, via the Charlotte Observer. "There are a lot of things that were unacceptable and can't continue to happen unless I make a stand and change it."
This is in line with past comments by Newton, who said in June he was "disgusted" by some of his play in 2011 despite throwing for over 4,000 yards. He added he was looking to cut down on turnovers after throwing 17 interceptions and losing three fumbles in his rookie year.
The expectations for Newton are massive after his explosive debut. If he manages to improve, the Panthers are going to be playoff contenders.
