CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers signed tight end Christian Fauria and released cornerback Curtis Deloatch on Tuesday.
Fauria, a 13-year veteran, spent last season with Washington. He was cut in the offseason in a salary cap move.
Fauria gives Carolina experience at tight end after Michael Gaines was released. Starter Jeff King is in his second season, while backups Dante Rosario and Marcus Freeman are rookies.
Deloatch was released by the Panthers for the second time in 10 days. He was re-signed last week to provide depth in the secondary for the season opening win against St. Louis.
The Panthers also signed running back Alex Haynes to the practice squad and released tight end Chad Upshaw.
