This is a time of change, excitement, and uncertainty in Cleveland. Browns coach Pat Shurmur is caught in the middle.
The man that hired Shurmur, Mike Holmgren, is likely to be replaced. The future of everyone from general manager Tom Heckert to quarterback Brandon Weeden is up in the air.
As linebacker Scott Fujita put it, the ownership change makes the coaching staff "lab rats like the rest of us."
Give Shurmur credit for adopting the right public approach.
"I have no fear. I have no fear about any of that because I trust my coaches, I trust the players," Shurmur said Friday. "I've watched the work that they're doing and I have no fear. I think we're moving full steam ahead. ... My concern is getting this team ready to play."
There is more pressure on Shurmur to win in his second year as Browns coach. The next five months essentially serve as an audition for the new bosses. Wins are the best thing possible to put on a resume.
