Patriots guard Mankins returns to action, starts vs. Browns

Logan Mankins was listed as the New England Patriots' third-team left guard against the Cleveland Browns, but he started Sunday, one day after being activated for the road game.

Backup guard Dan Connolly had started in Mankins' place all season.

Mankins, a two-time Pro Bowl pick, reported to the Patriots on Tuesday after missing the first seven games of the season in a contract dispute. He signed a $1.5 million tender as a restricted free agent.

Mankins, a Pro Bowl pick in 2007 and 2009, practiced with the Patriots' first-team offensive line all week, the Boston Globe reported. Mankins has started all 81 NFL games in which he has played.
