Darlington: Chilling lesson for rookies
How did players at the NFL Rookie Symposium react to Aaron Hernandez's murder charge? Jeff Darlington was on the scene. **More ...**
In an interesting move, the team announced Friday that it will offer a free exchange of any "#81 Hernandez" jersey for a different player jersey of comparative value. The offer is available July 6-7 to fans who purchased their Hernandez jersey at the Patriots ProShop in Foxborough or through the team's online shop.
"We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don't want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore," Patriots spokesperson Stacey James said in a statement. "We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player's jersey will be well received by parents."
Consider this further evidence that the Patriots are doing everything in their power to distance themselves from Hernandez, who began the week as a franchise star and ended it unemployed and at the center of a murder case.
