New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung is inactive for Sunday night's AFC East matchup with the New York Jets, the team announced.
Chung, who had listed as questionable with a foot injury, warmed up in hopes of playing, but he ultimately was ruled out.
The absence of the third-year veteran leaves the Patriots with few options in their secondary. Safety Ross Ventrone was elevated from the practice squad Saturday and likely will see significant time.
Also inactive for the Patriots are linebackers Dane Fletcher and Brandon Spikes, quarterback Ryan Mallett, wide receiver Taylor Price, offensive lineman Donald Thomas and running back Shane Vereen.
