The Tennessee Titans continue to upgrade a defense that has finished in the bottom five in points allowed two of the past three years.
The team agreed to terms with former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Perrish Cox on a three-year, $15 million contract, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, per a source informed of the situation.
The Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns were among the teams reportedly pursuing Cox.
A career backup before 2014, Cox started 14 games last season, impressing in the first two months before struggling down the stretch.
A plus-sized cornerback with ball skills, Cox should start opposite Jason McCourty.
Over the past two days, the Titans have added Cox, three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Brian Orakpo and rotational defensive lineman Karl Klug while re-signing pass rusher Derrick Morgan.
