How pumped are you for wall-to-wall coverage of Peyton Manning's drive for 509 this weekend?
The Denver Broncos signal-caller sits at 506 touchdown passes, two behind Brett Favre's NFL record of 508. Sunday Night Football got the juicy tease, and Al and Chris will likely spend an inordinate amount of time this weekend reminding us how close Manning is to breaking the record.
Manning and the Broncos, however, aren't concerned with that.
"I think we've concentrated on important things; we've had two good wins coming off a bye week,'' Manning said Wednesday, per ESPN.com. " ... That's what I've concentrated on, kind of doing whatever it takes to win. I don't feel like it's been a distraction.''
Tight end Jacob Tamme, who has played with Manning in both Indianapolis and Denver, said it would be "really cool" to catch the record-breaker, but the team's focus is on beating a 4-2 San Francisco 49ers team, not on a record that will be set at some point this season.
"I don't think anybody in here is on record watch,'' Tamme said. "It will be a real special moment when it happens, but it's not something we are in here talking about.''
The 49ers are second in the NFL in yards allowed with just an average of 287.2 per game. Even with a plethora of missing defensive stars, Jim Harbaugh's team still presents a stiff test that could keep Manning from breaking the record this week.
