Eli Manning officially moved past big brother Peyton in Super Bowl titles after his dramatic come-from-behind win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. All that is just fine with Peyton.
"Eli and I don't play that game," Peyton told The Indianapolis Star this week. "The relationship of Eli, Cooper and I is not about trying to rub it in or anything like that. It's about love, nothing but love.
"I couldn't be happier for Eli, prouder of Eli. I want nothing but the best for him. I think he will continue to win more Super Bowls. There is no envy whatsoever in our relationship. He deserves this."
Peyton, who is expected to meet soon with Colts owner Jim Irsay to discuss his future in Indianapolis, said he fielded a phone call from Irsay early Monday morning during the Giants' Super Bowl party.
"He called to congratulate Eli and I told him I would pass that along," Peyton said. "He said, 'I look forward to sitting down with you soon,' and I told him the same thing. It'll happen.
"One thing he and I are not going to do is give a set date where it's like a game. We'll handle it the way it should be handled."
Peyton is set to earn a $28 million roster bonus by March 8 and will become an unrestricted free agent if the Colts don't pay the bonus or the two sides don't agree to extend the deadline.
