The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed wide receiver Plaxico Burress on the injured-reserve list, the team said Tuesday. The reason, according the team, was a shoulder injury.
The announcement came less than a week after NFL.com's Albert Breer reported that Burress had suffered a torn rotator cuff in practice, according to a source close to the player. NFL.com's Aditi Kinkhabwala said Burress had come down awkwardly on his shoulder.
Burress was going into his 12th NFL season.
The Steelers also said they had filled Burress' roster spot with wide receiver Tyler Shaw, an undrafted rookie free agent from Northwest Missouri State.
