Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who's wearing a walking boot on his left foot after spraining his ankle during last week's victory over the Cleveland Browns, didn't attend practice Monday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Roethlisberger wasn't available afterward in the locker room, but center Maurkice Pouncey told the Tribune-Review that "we're both fine, we'll be all right to go on Monday Night Football" against the San Francisco 49ers.
Pouncey and Roethlisberger were both diagnosed with Grade 1 ankle sprains against the Browns, though Pouncey didn't return to the game. Pouncey aggravated the same injury that kept him out of February's Super Bowl loss to the Green Bay Packers, but he said this one isn't as serious.
Meanwhile, like Pouncey, Roethlisberger's teammates expect him to be ready to play against the 49ers.
"You look at what Ben went through just to get back in the game, I would think he'll play if he can do it," left tackle Max Starks said. "He's had some time off, and I'm sure he'll have a special shoe to wear ... I'm constantly amazed by him but never surprised."
