Just where Aaron Murray will land in next month's NFL draft is anyone's guess, but he's just the sort of Day Two or Day Three quarterback prospect that could be the reason clubs will think twice about spending too early a pick on the position.
The intrigue on Murray, indeed, is growing quickly.
The Miami Dolphins have met with Murrray and, according to the Miami Herald, are considering a second meeting. The St. Louis Rams are reportedly interested in drafting a quarterback behind Sam Bradford, and stltoday.com reported that both quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti and director of player personnel Taylor Morton were on hand for Murray's impressive pro-day performance last week.
Murray threw 54 passes on his pro day, but just five months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL, he didn't participate in timed drills. Nevertheless, he drew a large gathering of NFL scouts to an event where he was clearly the primary draw ahead of third-day tight end prospect Arthur Lynch. NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt suggested that a run on quarterbacks could help Murray be chosen as early as the second round.
According to profootballtalk.com, the Dolphins, Rams, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans are among the teams which have requested a private workout with the SEC's all-time leading passer.
