Bears QBs ... again:Kyle Orton got the nod to start the Bears' preseason opener and was solid, if unspectacular, against the Chiefs. Grossman was equally mediocre, and reports coming out of training camp are that neither QB distinguished himself this week. Could rookie Caleb Hanie, who threw for 101 yards and a TD last week, steal the top spot? Unlikely, but stay tuned ...
Left guard Josh Beekman: Starter Terrence Metcalf underwent knee surgery last week, thrusting second-year player Beekman into the starting role in a position that does not come naturally to him. He'll need to play catch-up quickly to shore up an O-line that also lost presumed starting LT Chris Williams, the first-round pick who recently had back surgery.
WRs Nate Burleson and Courtney Taylor: The duo became the favorites to be the Seahawks' starting receivers in the wake of Deion Branch's recovery from ACL surgery and Bobby Engram missing six-to-eight weeks with a shoulder injury. Other players in the mix for the starting job are Ben Obomanu, Logan Payne, Jordan Kent and 22-year-old rookie free agent, Michael Bumpus.
Running back Justin Forsett: The rookie out of Cal made his case for a roster spot last week against Minnesota. The injury to Engram means one less roster spot available to the team, but don't expect any drop in effort from Forsett.
