Quick Take: Broncos hang on for win

It was over when
Denver's Louis Green ended the 49ers comeback bid by knocking down Shaun Hill's pass attempt to Delanie Walker with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. Hill drove the 49ers from their own 27-yard line to the 4-yard line in just over two minutes before falling just short.

Game ball
Travis Henry rushed for 27 yards on five attempts in his Broncos' debut. But coach Mike Shanahan has used a running back committee in recent years, and Mike Bell (50 yards) and Cecil Sapp (51 yards) also made a case for playing time in the Broncos' backfield.

Key stat
The 49ers don't seem to miss Norv Turner at all, driving for scores (a field goal and touchdown) in their first two drives. That's a offensive explosion when you consider some of the low scores during the first week of the preseason. The 49ers finished the game with 386 yards in total offense.

Noteworthy
The Broncos 2006 season ended in disappointment in San Francisco. Was that on their minds prior to this game? You almost have to think so with the way the Broncos marched 64 yards on eight plays to score on Henry's 1-yard touchdown run to open the game. The Broncos and 49ers scored 27 points in the first half, but only a field goal in the second half.
