Jaguars RB Greg Jones recovered Chiefs K Ryan Succop's second onside kick of the fourth quarter with 1:01 to play. Succop recovered his own onside kick earlier in the fourth quarter to give Kansas City a chance, but he wasn't able to duplicate the magic at the end.

Game ball

Mike Sims-Walker was too much for the Chiefs' secondary to handle. He got open repeatedly and finished with six catches for 147 and a 61-yard touchdown, while giving Garrard an easy target down the field.

Key Stat

Jacksonville executed its ball-control offense to perfection. The Jaguars had the ball for more than 36 minutes and did whatever they wanted offensively for most of the game.

Noteworthy

Chiefs WR Chris Chambers, who was picked up off waivers from the Chargers on Tuesday, paid immediate dividends with three catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns. ... With Larry Johnson suspended, Kansas City ran the ball only 14 times and split those carries between Jamaal Charles (six), Kolby Smith (four) and Dontrell Savage (two). ... Maurice Jones-Drew scored his 11th touchdown of the season -- tops in the league.
