Quick Take: Giants (3-2) at Falcons (1-4)

Last meeting
Running back Tiki Barber rushed for 185 yards and Jeremy Shockey had two touchdown receptions as the Giants beat the Falcons, 27-14, last October.

Streaks
The Falcons lead the all-time series, 10-8, and have won three of the last four meetings.

Last week
Plaxico Burress caught a 53-yard touchdown pass and Aaron Ross had a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Giants put away the Jets, 35-24. ... Falcons quarterbacks Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich were ineffective in a 20-13 loss to the Titans.

At stake
The Giants look to keep pace with the front-running Cowboys, who have started the season 5-0. Even at 1-4, the Falcons are only two games behind in the NFC South. There's a lot of football still to play, but they can't afford to fall much further out of the race.

Key matchup
Giants WR Plaxico Burress vs. Falcons CB DeAngelo Hall.
Burress is tied for the NFL lead with seven touchdown receptions -- almost single-handedly keeping Eli Manning's career and the Giants' season afloat. Burress is more than halfway to setting the Giants' club mark for touchdown receptions in a season (13 by Homer Jones in 1967). But he'll face a tough test this week in Hall, one of the premier cover corners in the league. Hall's verbal outburst against Carolina overshadowed the fact that he held Steve Smith to one reception in their Week 3 matchup.

Did you know?
Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Falcons coach Bobby Petrino worked together in Jacksonville for three seasons (1999-2001). Coughlin was the head coach and Petrino was the quarterbacks coach (1999-2000) and offensive coordinator (2001).
