Jets quarterback Kellen Clemens took the field. Taking over in the third quarter, Clemens went an efficient 6-of-8 for 122 yards. He did throw one interception -- mostly due to an impressive one-handed interception by Giants cornerback J.R. Reed -- but also scored a one-yard touchdown on a quarterback sneak that helped the Jets secure the victory.
Game balls
Giants' third-year defensive end Justin Tuck looked strong. In just one series he recorded four tackles, including one sack. With Michael Strahan's status still up in the air, the Giants may have already found his replacement. For the Jets, running back Leon Washington had three receptions for 86 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown reception from Chad Pennington on the Jets' first play from scrimmage.
Key stat
1-for-4. The totals from Laurence Tynes and Josh Huston, the Giants two kickers. Tynes went 1-for-3, connecting on a 40-yarder after missing on kicks from 43 and 40 yards. Huston missed his lone field goal attempt from 42 yards out.
Noteworthy
Jets rookie running back Danny Ware had a solid outing, gaining 57 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and adding a reception for 18 yards. On one six-play drive in the third quarter Ware carried the ball on all six plays, ending with a 16-yard touchdown run...Eli Manning had a solid outing, going 17-of-25 for 146 yards and a touchdown.
