What we learned ...
Larry Johnson is healthy. Johnson missed nearly all of the preseason last year because of a contract dispute, but saw his first game action since Week 9 of 2007. Johnson scored on a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter as he recovers from a foot injury.
Brodie Croyle holds serve. Croyle was solid in his first preseason action, completing 6-of-10 passes for 82 yards. Croyle showed off his strong arm, and displayed a nice touch as he drove the Chiefs down the field against the Bears' first-team defense to open the game with a 16-play, 81-yard touchdown drive. Damon Huard tossed a touchdown pass during his time.
Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman appear even. Orton was efficient, completing 7-of-10 passes for 56 yards. Grossman posted similar stats, but did complete a 25-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wolfe in the third quarter.
The Matt Forte era begins. The rookie out of Tulane rushed seven times for 25 yards, and had three receptions for 10 yards. "Matt looked good, he was a physical runner," coach Lovie Smith said. "He ran down hill, which is a point of emphasis in our offense"
