Quick Take: Lions' defense stops Bears

It was over when ...
Brian Griese was intercepted for the fourth time -- and the third time in the end zone -- with under a minute remaining in the game and his team down 16-7.

The Lions defense showed up its NFC North counterparts, holding Chicago scoreless in the first half and limiting the Bears to 255 total yards. Four different Lions intercepted Griese and the 30th-ranked pass defense knocked down passes and had several more near-interceptions. The Lions now have 13 interceptions and lead the league with 20 takeaways on the season.

The Lions held the ball 10 more minutes than the Bears, had six more first downs and outgained Chicago in total yards 365 to 255.

Noteworthy
The Lions improved to 5-2 for the first time since 2000. .. The Bears failed to score at least 27 points in a divisional game for the first time this season. ... Lions RB Kevin Jones (105 rushing yards) had his first 100-yard game since Nov. 6, 2006. ... Bears have only one takeaway in their last three games.
