Quick Take: Saints trounce struggling Chiefs

It was over when
Kansas City's Dustin Colquitt punted for the fourth consecutive possession to start the game. By that point the Saints had already taken a 13-0 lead and put the pressure on the Chiefs' sputtering offense. The lead eventually ballooned to 30-0 before Kanas City got on the board with less than two minutes left to make the final score 30-7.

Game balls
Stuck behind Deuce McAllister, Reggie Bush, Aaron Stecker and Antonio Pittman, Saints rookie running back Pierre Thomas does not get much attention. Thomas proved he might deserve some though, rushing for 90 yards on 11 carries and scoring two touchdowns. Nobody offensively really stood out for the Chiefs, so star defensive end Jared Allen deserves credit with four tackles, one sack and an interception.

Key stat
Bringing back memories of last season, New Orleans' offense exploded for 479 yards.

Noteworthy
Drew Brees completed 17-of-19 passes in the game, making him 35-of-39 in his last three preseason outings. His counterpart, Brodie Croyle, struggled in his bid to become the Chiefs' starter, completing only 5-of-17 passes for 45 yards and throwing an interception.
