Raiders add veteran guard Loper to bolster offensive line

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders announced Friday that they have signed guard Daniel Loper -- a move that adds depth to their offensive line.

Loper spent last season with the Detroit Lions, with whom he started five games. He played the previous four years with the Tennessee Titans and appeared in 40 games, but he didn't make a start.

Brandon Rodd had been the only true guard backing up Robert Gallery and Cooper Carlisle in Oakland before the move. The Raiders have several other linemen capable of playing guard, including rookie tackle Bruce Campbell, veteran tackle Khalif Barnes and center Chris Morris.
