Raiders OC plans to tailor run game to Latavius Murray

New Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave knows a thing or two about running the football. Musgrave guided a top-10 rushing attack four of his six seasons as an offensive coordinator -- in Jacksonville and Minnesota.

He also had some all-time great runners in those stops: Fred Taylor and Adrian Peterson.

In Oakland, 25-year-old Latavius Murray is likely to be the Raiders' lead back in 2015 and the new OC likes what he's seen so far.

"I have a very positive impression," Musgrave said Tuesday in a conference call, per CSN Bay Area. "He has tremendous size and speed. He had a super career (at Central Florida).

"I'm looking forward to getting on the field and finding out what he's all about and what his strengths are so we can tailor our run game so it's right up his alley."

Murray earned 424 yards, a whopping 5.2 yards per attempt and 17 receptions for 143 yards in just 82 carries last season.

Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew appear on the way out in Oakland, which leaves Murray as the primary back in the stable heading into the offseason. The jury is still out on Murray's future, but if the young runner improves on his performance down the stretch last season, he could have a chance to become Musgrave's next great workhorse.
