Rams hire McGinnis as assistant head coach

The St. Louis Rams announced Wednesday that former Arizona Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis has joined Jeff Fisher's staff as assistant head coach.

"I feel very fortunate that we were able to bring Dave aboard," Fisher said, according to the Rams' official website. "He's been in a variety of roles in this league, from position coach all the way up to head coach. His vast knowledge and experience will be valuable assets to our staff, and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to work with Dave again."

McGinnis worked on Fisher's Tennessee Titans staff for seven seasons. He coached the Cardinals from 2000 to 2003, posting a record of 17-40. Prior to that, McGinnis was the Cardinals' defensive coordinator from 1996 to 2000.

On Monday, the Rams announced the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer and Gregg Williams as offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively.
