Move over Eli Manning and make room for Matthew Stafford.
The Los Angeles Rams quarterback is now 10th all time in career passing yards, achieving the milestone in Sunday's loss against the host Chicago Bears.
Stafford admitted it was "tough to think about," per ESPN, considering the loss, but nonetheless, the moment wasn't lost on him.
"[Manning] obviously had an outstanding career," Stafford said. "And I'm sure at the end of the season or whatnot, I will spend more time thinking about that kind of stuff. I was a fan of this game long before I became a player of it in the NFL and to be mentioned with some of those guys is a really cool, humbling thing for me."
Stafford needed 223 passing yards to leapfrog Manning (57,023) and finished the game with 224 on 20-of-29 passing.
The 36-year-old Stafford is in his fourth season with the Rams after he was traded from the Detroit Lions in the 2020 offseason. Despite mounting injuries over the past two campaigns, Stafford continues to showcase all-star arm skills as he bolsters a potential Hall of Fame resume.
Stafford remains second in career passing yards among active players behind the New York Jets' Aaron Rodgers.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft is now among the top 10 NFL passers all time.
