Last week, Todd Gurley said he didn't get to show his explosiveness.
On Sunday the rookie running back blew up.
"He came out this week and he exploded," receiver Tavon Austin said of Gurley, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Gurley gobbled up 146 yards on 19 carries. He became the first rookie drafted in the first round with 100-plus rushing yards in the fourth quarter of a contest since Adrian Peterson in 2007, per NFL Communications.
The 227-pound beast burst through for a 52-yard scamper that led to a fourth-quarter score before closing the contest with runs of 20 and 30 yards to seal the Arizona Cardinals' fate.
"Man, I knew he was gonna be special from the get-go," Rams defensive end William Hayes said. "But I wasn't expecting that much. I saw today that his future's gonna be very, very bright."
After just six carries for nine yards in his opening game and two first-half yards on Sunday, the No. 10 overall pick caught fire.
"... You know how it is if you're having a good game and it's rolling," Gurley said. "Then, you know, you keep the hot hand hot."
The Rams will keep that hand hot the rest of the season. As Gurley displayed Sunday, he's just too talented to keep on the sidelines any longer.
