Randy Moss appears engaged for San Francisco 49ers

Harrison: Week 10 predictions

Two of the NFL's best teams face off Sunday night. Who will prevail: Texans or Bears? Elliot Harrison provides his picks. **More ...**

We've seen enough this season to know Randy Moss isn't going to be Randy Moss anymore.

The dynamic talents that made him the greatest wide receiver of his generation have faded. Beyond that, a wide receiver in the San Francisco 49ers' run-first attack is never destined for statistical greatness.

But Moss isn't exactly through, either. He showed flashes of his old self with his 47-yard catch-and-run touchdown in Week 8.

Niners teammates were appropriately ecstatic about Moss' second score of the season, but Matthew Barrows of The Sacramento Bee wrote Friday that the Niners' sideline was equally amped three plays before, when Moss lowered his shoulder and floored Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes on Michael Crabtree's 30-yard reception.

Crabtree only got a couple extra yards on the play, but the effort showed a Moss who's more eager than earlier in the season, when the veteran appeared to be "stepping into gopher holes" to avoid contact after catches.

Moss isn't Moss, but he's a happy camper. The Niners will take that.
