Ravens place Lorenzo Taliaferro on injured reserve

Lorenzo Taliaferro's first NFL season is over.

The Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday placed the rookie running back on injured reserve with the foot injury he suffered against the Dolphins in Week 14.

Taliaferro looked solid in spot duty this season, rushing for 292 yards at 4.3 yards per clip. He also pulled down eight passes for 114 yards.

We first noticed Taliaferro in his 91-yard effort against the Browns in Week 3. Running for 5.1 yards per tote in that affair, the former Coastal Carolina star showed nimble feet and tackle-breaking ability. His role dried up down the stretch, though, amid fumbling issues and Justin Forsett's breakout campaign.

Bernard Pierce and Fitzgerald Toussaint will see more action in the rookie's absence, but Taliaferro has a chance to take on a lead role next season if Forsett isn't re-signed.
