Baltimore will open training camp practices without its first-round wideout available.
Ravens receiver Marquise Brown was among four Baltimore rookies placed on the active/non-football injury list on Thursday. Brown underwent Lisfranc surgery in February, months before the Ravens drafted him at No. 25 overall in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Oklahoma product suffered the foot injury during the Sooners' win over Texas in the Big 12 Championship in December and did not participate in combine drills in February. Still, Baltimore made him the first receiver taken in the draft.
Brown was cleared for individual drills during minicamp, and Ravens coach John Harbaugh expressed optimism at the time that the rookie would be ready for training camp.
As for his timetable to return, Brown is progressing well and expected to be back on the practice field in a few weeks, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.
Baltimore also placed linebacker Jaylon Ferguson (No. 85), defensive tackle Daylon Mack (No. 160) and wide receiver Jaylen Smith (UDFA) on the NFI list. Ferguson is dealing with a minor hamstring issue, Rapoport reported.
Brown and the rest of his teammates can be taken off the NFI list, which is reserved for players unable to practice for reasons unrelated to professional football, once medically cleared.
Baltimore's first practice is on Thursday, July 25, one day after the veterans report. Ravens rookies showed up to camp on Wednesday.
