NEW ORLEANS -- Wide receiver Torrey Smith has thrived of late, in a Baltimore Ravens offense that's made mincemeat of secondaries with a dangerous passing game, en route to Super Bowl XLVII.
Baltimore's heady run has thrust Joe Flacco into the spotlight, but Smith told me Thursday his quarterback hasn't changed a bit.
"I mean, he's been playing the same all year. It's the same old Joe, he's always confident," Smith said. "Just because he's hot, he's been getting more attention. Just because it's the playoffs, people have been paying attention to things he's been doing."
Said Smith: "Joe's been playing well for a long time. ... I think he's definitely one of the better quarterbacks in the league -- not too many guys can make every throw."
Flacco has been more reliable than ever in postseason wins over the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. Much has been made of his uptick in production under new offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell, who replaced the fired Cam Cameron, but Smith downplayed suggestions of a changed offense.
"It's the same old plays, just a different guy calling them," Smith said. "It's like playing 'Madden.' You got the same playbook, and I'm gonna call a different play than you."
