The Baltimore Ravens are optimistic about the health of Ray Rice.
The All-Pro running back exited in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns after suffering a strained left hip flexor.
Tests on Rice showed no significant damage, and Ravens coach John Harbaugh sounded hopeful that his playmaker won't miss extended time.
"Indication is it's not anything that is serious," Harbaugh said Monday. "We'll just be day to day with him."
Harbaugh said Rice might be held out of practice this week, but practicing is not a must for him to play Sunday against the Houston Texans.
The injury didn't look good at the time, but the Ravens appear to have dodged a significant bullet. If Rice suits up against the Texans, don't be surprised if backup Bernard Pierce splits the workload.
Pierce -- one of the game's best backups -- filled in capably against the Browns, finishing with 19 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown.
