Robertson, 15, graces the sidelines at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with his humor and charm despite battling a rare liver disease called biliary atresia. He's fought the chronic disease since birth, and now the Saints organization is helping him in his courageous battle.
Saints owner Tom Benson and his wife Gayle have donated $25,000 to Robertson to help him with his medical costs. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has pledged to match the Bensons' donation.
Jarrius was on the receiving end of an organ transplant when he was a year old. He received another liver transplant at Ochsner Hospital for Children on April 30. The grueling procedure didn't stop Robertson from showing his Saints support at an organized team activity less than a month later.
For his heroic indefatigability, Robertson received the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Other winners of the award include Craig Sager, Stuart Scott, and Leah Still, the daughter of NFL free agent Devon Still, among others.
