Redskins draft Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine

With the 114th overall pick, Washington took Oklahoma's Samaje Perine, a 5-11, 233-pound bruiser who left Oklahoma with a string of broken records in his belt. Despite the presence of Joe Mixon, Perine managed to put up at least 1,000 yards and 10-plus touchdowns every season, including a starlit freshman year where he rushed for 1,713 yards and 21 touchdowns.

One scout, speaking to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, described Perine as a type of Eddie Lacy-light, which fits the mold Washington is likely trying to replace with Jones.

For now, Perine joins a crowded backfield. Along with Jones, there is also 2016 undrafted free agent Rob Kelly, 2013 fifth-round pick Chris Thompson and 2016 seventh-round pick Keith Marshall. Kelly led the team with 704 yards on the ground and six touchdowns.
