It was not a surprise on Wednesday that the Washington Redskins announced Ryan Grant is the newest member of the team. FOX Sports Insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported that it would happen Wednesday.

The team's accompanying move to make room for the running back was a surprise. The Redskins also announced Wednesday that running back Roy Helu was placed on injured reserve with turf toe.
Helu was initially viewed as a potential starter in Washington, but he has fallen by the wayside just like Tim Hightower. Helu was reduced to a third-down role behind starter Alfred Morris, and his toe injury has ended his season quickly. Evan Royster and Grant will back up Morris.
We've been impressed with the Redskins running game thus far this season. Morris has had big holes to run through as Mike Shanahan's zone blocking scheme has taken hold in Washington. The addition of Robert Griffin III has also helped to distract defenses, something that happened in Carolina last year.
