Redskins to build long-anticipated indoor practice facility

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins are finally getting a bubble.

The team announced Thursday that it's building an indoor practice facility at Redskins Park, to be completed in the fall.

Washington and Cincinnati are the northernmost of the 10 NFL teams without an onsite indoor place to practice. Last year, Redskins players piled into cars or buses several times and headed to a gymnasium or airport hangar because of inclement weather.

A bubble was under consideration several years ago, but Redskins coach Joe Gibbs didn't want one because he preferred practicing in the elements.

Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said the bubble also will be used for charitable functions.
