Reggie Bush back for Detroit Lions, expected to play

The Chicago Bears would be wise to plan for Reggie Bushon Sunday.

The versatile Lions running back was back at practice Wednesday after missing Detroit's win over the Washington Redskins with the knee injury he suffered in Week 2, per the team's official website.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press wrote that Bush wore a sleeve on his left knee, but showed "no other signs of injury." It's a safe bet Bush will suit up against the Bears after pleading with coaches to let him play against the Redskins.

Here in the newsroom, the Around The League gang is busy making our picks for this weekend's games and monitoring Reggie's status closely. He's that big of a difference-maker in Matthew Stafford's offense.

Backup Joique Bell showed well against Washington -- rushing for 63 yards and adding another 69 through the air -- but this isn't the same team with Bush on the sideline.

In our first full-game look in Week 1, Bush was otherworldly in piling up 191 total yards in a win over the Vikings. His presence forces defenses to account for more than Calvin Johnson. For a team lacking anything close to a No. 2 receiver, the Lions are counting on Bush to carry the day.
