Report: 49ers' McDonald arrested for outstanding warrant

49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald was arrested for an outstanding warrant early Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The newspaper said the warrant is connected to McDonald's arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence in June 2010.

Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the Santa Clara Sheriff's Department said the 27-year-old McDonald was booked at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday and released at 7:05 a.m.

"The 49ers are aware of the recent matter involving Ray McDonald. We are gathering the relevant facts and monitoring the developments closely," the team said in a statement.

McDonald had a career-high 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2011, the first year of a five-year, $20 million contract.

McDonald's teammate, rookie defensive end Aldon Smith, was arrested Jan. 28 in Miami for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was released on $1,000 bond.
