The Baltimore Ravens brought in free-agent running back Beanie Wells for a workout last week, but they won't be signing him to a contract.
The former first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals tore his Achilles during the tryout, according to The Baltimore Sun.
The newspaper noted that Baltimore remains interested in signing former Cincinnati Bengals running back Bernard Scott as a third option behind Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce. Scott tried out for the gig a week before Beanie visited the team.
Wells, meanwhile, is expected to be sidelined for the season, and it's fair to wonder if he'll ever play again on the heels of a career mired by knee and toe problems.
UPDATE: The Ravensannounced Monday that Scott has been signed to the active roster and will fill the empty roster spot left by Bryant McKinnie, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins earlier in the month.
