The Browns are traveling to conduct a private workout with Kalil on Wednesday, a league source told The Plain-Dealer. Earlier this offseason Kalil, considered the top offensive line prospect in the draft, went to Cleveland for a workout.
Most expect Kalil to be selected third-overall by the Minnesota Vikings, but Browns general manager Tom Heckert has said in the past that his team would have to consider taking Kalil if he became available. Kalil, paired with three-time All-Pro Joe Thomas, would give the Browns one of the better young tackle tandems in the league.
Kalil actually has been compared to Thomas by some draft analysts, and Browns coach Pat Shurmur said "that's a fair comparison" during last month's NFL Annual Meeting.
The Browns also have been linked to LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, Alabama running back Trent Richardson, Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wideout Justin Blackmon.
