The San Diego Chargers signed running back Frank Summers, a 2009 fifth-round draft pick by the Steelers, the *Pittsburgh Post-Gazette* reported Wednesday.
Summers, nicknamed "Frank the Tank" because of his 5-foot-10, 240-pound build, started one of the two games in which he played as a rookie before landing on season-ending injured reserve. He spent the 2010 season on the Steelers' practice squad but decided against returning to Pittsburgh.
The Steelers re-signed safety Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith, who spent his rookie season on Pittsburgh's practice squad.
