Andrew Luck could see a familiar face show up at the Indianapolis Colts facility soon.
The franchise is in the market for an offensive coordinator after the Arizona Cardinals hired Bruce Arians to replace Ken Whisenhunt. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Stanford offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is in the running for the job.
Hamilton was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during Luck's senior year when he was the Heisman Trophy runner-up. He interviewed with the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Hamilton spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears before being hired to coach receivers at Stanford in 2010. He was promoted to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2011.
Luck developed a strong relationship with Bruce Arians during his rookie year and didn't want Arians to leave. It doesn't help a young quarterback's progression to switch offensive coordinators as they're still learning the system and the intricacies of NFL life. Especially when they work with a talented coordinator.
The Colts need a smart offensive mind, but the relationship and development of Luck should be the No. 1 priority.
