Report: Dolphins cut RB Johnson for second time in 17 days

The Miami Dolphins' on-again, off-again relationship with Larry Johnson took another turn Tuesday as the team cut the former Pro Bowl running back for the second time in 17 days, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Johnson had only one carry for 2 yards in two games this season after the Dolphins picked him up as an insurance policy against rookie Daniel Thomas, who was nursing a hamstring injury at the time. Johnson initially didn't make the squad during the preseason.

Thomas exploded for 107 yards on 18 carries Sunday in his NFL debut, a performance that certainly made Johnson expendable in coach Tony Sparano's mind.
