The Falcons have placed a first-round tender on Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes, one of the team's core defensive performers, *The Atlanta Journal-Constitution* reported Friday.
The four-year pro was targeted a league-high 119 times by opponents last season, according to the newspaper. He responded with a career-high 87 tackles and five picks, topped only by his six interceptions in 2009.
Grimes, 27, was signed by the Falcons in 2007 as an undrafted free agent out of Shippensburg University. He's notched 199 tackles and 12 interceptions in his career.
The Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday that the team placed a second-round tender on backup running back Jason Snelling.
There's a good chance, however, that many of these tenders won't be valid once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
