Report: Larry Fitzgerald wants Cardinals to draft Michael Floyd

It has been two seasons since Larry Fitzgerald shared a huddle with Anquan Boldin and was complemented by another wide receiver who could command the attention of a defense.

Reuter: Mock Draft 9.0

CB Stephon Gilmore and DT Fletcher Cox fly up the draft board into the top 10 in Chad Reuter's latest first-round projection.

Based on his recent comments to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, it appears Fitzgerald longs for the days during which he played with a big-time receiver and wants the Arizona Cardinals to address that hole Thursday night when the NFL draft begins.

Fitzgerald told King he would like the Cardinals to draft Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd with the No. 13 pick in the first round. Floyd has emerged as the second-best receiver prospect in this year's draft class and has challenged Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon for the No. 1 spot in some circles.

While it's unlikely that Fitzgerald's opinion holds much sway in the Cardinals' draft war room, the team could use more depth at the position. Early Doucet emerged as a viable No. 2 receiver last season, catching 54 passes for 689 yards with five touchdowns, and Andre Roberts snagged 51 balls for 586 yards with two scores, but Arizona saw little production from anyone else in its receiving corps.
