Report: League will discuss fines for violating concussion protocol

CBS Detroit reported that the NFL could fine players who violate concussion protocol. The league recently reminded doctors that players are not allowed to return to the playing field until after their initial concussion exam is concluded -- as New Orleans Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis and Green Bay Packers tackle David Bakhtiari did during their respective Wild Card Weekend games.

Aiello said fines to players who ignore doctors' orders may be negotiated with the NFL Players Association during the offseason.

Union spokesman George Atallah said the NFLPA does not agree with Aiello. They do not believe that Lewis and Bakhtiari violated the concussion protocol.
